5 Cups of Flour, I usually use Whole Wheat, but either is fine.
1/3 Cup of Sugar
1 1/2 Tsp Salt
2 Cups of warm water
1/4 Cup of Oil
1 1/2 TBS Yeast.
I combine the first 3 ingredients, flour, sugar and salt in the mixer. I turn on the mixer at a low-speed to mix everything up. I add the yeast to the warm water and allow it to proof.
Once I see bubbles in the water/yeast mixture I add both the water, yeast and oil to the mixer at the same time while the dough hook is turning. I allow the mixer to knead the dough until a soft ball forms around the hook and the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
If necessary add more flour so that a soft dough forms. You do not want a sticky dough.
Allow the dough to rest in the Mixer for about 30-45 minutes covered with a dish cloth.
After the dough has rested and doubled in size punch down the dough and form into loaves. Place dough loaves into pre-greased bread pans.
Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 for about 30 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
Allow the bread to rest out of the pans in order to cool. If you leave the loaves of bread in the pans they will get soggy on the bottom as they cool.
